Children of the Arctic (2014)

Children of the Arctic

Children of the Arctic is a portrait of five Native Alaskan teenagers growing up in Barrow – the northernmost community in the United States. As their climate and culture undergo profound changes, they strive to balance being modern American kids and the inheritors of an endangered way of life. We witness the social pressure they undergo, and how they face the increasingly tough decisions of their lives: to stay and stand by their endangered traditions, or to leave and find a brand new life while risking the possibility of ultimately losing themselves?

Winner of Copper Wing Award for Best Documentary – World Cinema at Phoenix Film Festival, Jury Award for Best Documentary Film at Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Green Planet Award at Rhode Island International Film Festival, and more.
